Notes
- The Garnish is Mandatory: Don't skip the garnish! The caramel and peanuts are what sell the illusion. The combination of the sweet liqueur and the salty crunch of the peanuts is the secret to its success.
- Customize Your Recipe: While our recipe is a classic, many variations exist. Some popular alternatives use caramel vodka and amaretto for the peanut flavor, while others use RumChata for an extra creamy, cinnamon kick.
- Make it a Dessert Cocktail: To turn this into a full-sized drink, simply double the recipe, serve it over ice in a lowball glass, and top with a dollop of whipped cream and a few extra peanuts.
- Is this shot very sweet? Yes, the Payday Shot is a dessert-style drink and is quite sweet. The addition of salted peanuts on the rim helps to cut through the sweetness for a perfect balance.
- What is Peanut Butter Whiskey? Peanut Butter Whiskey is a modern flavored whiskey that blends the rich notes of whiskey with the unmistakable flavor of peanut butter. Skrewball is the most popular brand, but others exist.
- Can I make this without peanut butter whiskey? You can try! A possible alternative would be a combination of hazelnut liqueur (like Frangelico) and a peanut-flavored liqueur to try and get a similar flavor profile, but the original is best.
